At Purple Pear Farm, our life revolves around food – growing, selling, preparing, preserving and eating it.
Run by Mark Brown and Kate Beveridge, Purple Pear Farm Education Centre and Biodynamic farm offers learning opportunities based on 20+ years of experience in teaching, farming, sustainability, permaculture, biodynamics and community building.
Today, Purple Pear Farm is a flourishing, productive farm and education centre with mandala gardens, forest foods and established permaculture, along with biodynamic and organic farming practices.
There are a range of activities for children on the farm. There is nature play with the group Acacia Play. We have school groups from kindergarten to year 11 and 12. Talk to us about how your children can be involved.
The concept of permaculture was established by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the late 1960s. It looks to nature and especially the forests as a model for sustainable agriculture with the elements working together in symbiotic relationships.
The Purple Pear Farm Internship programs are an opportunity to learn a wide range of farming skills with particular emphasis on intensive market gardening and sustainable farming.
Our goal is to show how permaculture, biodynamics and organic principles work equally well on apartment balconies, in backyards and on working farms like our own.
The farm is a working farm with facilities to cater for a group in a hands-on and supported learning environment.
Come and have a look at our affordable courses, and soon you too will be harvesting fresh vegetables, making yoghurt and cheese in your kitchen and recycling scraps into your fresh, sweet smelling compost heap.
Purple Pear Farm is the perfect place for children’s birthday parties. Come and find out about parties that you and your children will be raving about for years.
We look forward to welcoming you on the farm soon.
As we did last year, we will continue to offer the same great course opportunities that have been popular in the past.
The difference is that Skills for Living workshops will be run in conjunction with the internship and during the week.
We encourage group bookings so get your group together and let us know what it is you would like from us. To see what courses have been added go the Eventbrite page via the link below or you may wish to subscribe to our events page on Facebook or follow us on Eventbrite.
